The Bee's Knees

One of my brothers, Jack, taught me this joke about 50 years ago:

Knock knock.

Who's there?

Amos.

Amos who?

A mosquito bit me on the knee.

(Well, in this case, it was a hornet.)

Interlopers

They made a pass through the back yard, hopped the fence, and headed across the street today.

Slushie or Freezie?

As per tradition, we wrap-up ski season on Memorial Day and come across a geologic depression that has been collecting the spring runoff.  Its temperature is likely in the mid-30F (1 or 2 C) degrees.  Someone decides to skim the pond, and then many others follow.  Over time, it changes shape to look more like a pontoon runway and two other ponds form along side.  Everyone is having a blast on the "beach."

Most skiers and boarders successfully navigate the waters.  However, the few who do not succeed seem to fail in spectacular fashion.   First we see a double failure -- the first guy loses a ski to the water and his follower has no option but to avoid a collision.  I strongly recommend you view this in full screen mode:

And then a snowboarder clears the near pond and attempts to dodge the second.  Moments later we see another skier lose confidence and auger into the far pond:

Springtime in the Mountains

Mother Nature's whimsy.  She frequently reminds us just exactly who is in charge on this planet.
