As per tradition, we wrap-up ski season on Memorial Day and come across a geologic depression that has been collecting the spring runoff. Its temperature is likely in the mid-30F (1 or 2 C) degrees. Someone decides to skim the pond, and then many others follow. Over time, it changes shape to look more like a pontoon runway and two other ponds form along side. Everyone is having a blast on the "beach."
Most skiers and boarders successfully navigate the waters. However, the few who do not succeed seem to fail in spectacular fashion. First we see a double failure -- the first guy loses a ski to the water and his follower has no option but to avoid a collision. I strongly recommend you view this in full screen mode:
And then a snowboarder clears the near pond and attempts to dodge the second. Moments later we see another skier lose confidence and auger into the far pond:
